Pick Totals / Update for Playoffs Week 3

And then there were two. Sort of.

With one game left to go in the 2008 NFL season, we have two leaders, two entries that have suffered nary a loss throughout the season. They are winners. They are not, however, the only winners. Since the leaders do not have a team left to pick in the Superbowl, they will end up taking their first loss on February 1. Anyone left standing with only one loss will join them in the winners' circle. That means will be have either 3 or 4 winners once the dust settles.

We will also have a handful of entries which are non-winners. They are not losers, since they will have made it through the entire season without being eliminated. But they are also not winners. All of those contestants will get their entry fees back (or can roll them over into their 2009 entry fee).

And, as a side note, these surprising playoffs have generated another surprising result: We have a winner of the 2nd-Chance Pool before the final game is even played. McKenzie~R and McKenzie~C of the famed Pasadena McKenzies will be receiving the 2nd-Chance Pool jackpot. They won't know if husband or wife is the actual winner until the Superbowl, but as of today, the money becomes community property in the McKenzie household.

Congratulations to our already-decided winners and good luck to those still hoping to catch a piece of the pie.
