Day 6 -- Tuesday, April 23
Tuesday morning. The last day before we shoot. Today we lock everything down in preparation for tomorrow night's event. Unless, of course, there is nothing to lock down.
Last night the official "shooting draft" arrived on my doorstep before I went to bed. Coming in at 39 pages makes it a little on the short side. The reason is printed on page 39:
"SCENE E AND TAG TO COME."
The show is not done yet. Four endings have come and gone and nothing has stuck. We have arrived at work this morning not knowing what happens to these guys by the end of the show. Unfortunately, the overhaul in the concept of the show has left the ending up in the air. Since Marv lives, it's really a blank slate. We just need to hit upon that perfect ending to cap the show and make the audience want to tune in week-in and week-out.
We reported to work bright and early today to shoot the opening scene to the show. It's all four salesmen in a sales-pitch montage. I open it, then Jerry, then Doug, then Hearth. It went well.
Rehearsal was more of the same. Mostly just hanging out on the set, relaxed. Rehearsing the scenes that do exist, wondering about he ones that don't. We did rehearse an old ending today. We'll see what shows up tomorrow.
Go on to Day 7.
