Day 7 -- Tuesday, April 24
Well shut my mouth. We were a hit. A huge, wonderful hit.
The show clicked along tonight at a furious pace. We did each scene twice, no pick-ups. And with only five scenes, it was a breeze.
It was a long night, too, though. The taping itself only lasted for a couple of hours, but we were not done yet. The ending was still not meeting the standards of the network brass. After the audience was released, we shot some pick-up scenes and the writers were charged with creating the final final scene. This was it. Fourth quarter, game on the line. And they came through. They created a closing scene with more jokes than all the previous efforts combined. It's as if they were waiting until tape-night to turn it loose. But when it came, it came very funny.
By 1am, we closed up the set. It's out of our hands now. From here,
it's up to the network, the studio, the test audiences. Other people
would have control now. We would just have to leave knowing we did
the best we could. It could be the start of a long and wonderful
adventure. Of course, it could also be the end of one.
