My enthusiasm for the student film scene has waned, I must admit. This decrease in interest was triggered by the inept auditioners for Close Encounters back on January 22, and precipitated by the unusable quality of the final product of Ms. Modesitt's video project. The copy ends up not being a good source of material to put together into a reel to show agents and casting directors. So they seem useless.
This was the chip I carried on my shoulder down to an apartment building near USC. Luckily, I'm not very good at being difficult, and I soon forgot my woes. The other two guys were there and turned out to be nice, friendly. One seemed a little cocky, but that's what it takes.
Most of the morning hours, of course, were spent doing nothing but watching TV and chatting with the boys. We shot a couple moments in the doorway, and a couple in the hallway, and that was it for the indoor arrival shots. That lasted from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
The arrival of the women was followed closely by the arrival of the pizza, a very welcome addition to the afternoon. The women & men all took their assigned places around the living room and we ate pizza and chatted while Amy shot a scene or two. It was low-stress, low-maintenance, easy and fun. So, who am I to complain?
Some outdoor and elevator shots still need to be done next week plus I did get the bug voice-over, so I need to go into USC at some point to do that.
