Day 1 -- Monday, March 1
My moon must be rising. Today begins the fourth week in a row in which I have an acting job to go to. From Unhappily onto Two Guys to Caroline, the end of the episodic television season has been fruitful. If only the current pilot season were going so well... Anyway, today was significant for the number of people that I knew. It even began before my arrival at work. My friend of five years, J.P. Manoux, picked me up on the way to work today. He and I have coincidentally landed a role on the same episode of the same sitcom. So today I showed up with a buddy. That was cool. Then add to the equation the people from Conrad Bloom who I knew from casting, Gilda Stratton and Katherine Eckert, plus executive producer Marco Pennette. Even one of this episode's writers, Jan Nash, is a friend of a good friend of mine. And to top it all off, old Harvard classmate and former paramour Susan Walter is the 2nd A.D. on the show. She put me in her short, Rubbernecks last summer, which included Caroline in the City regular, Eric Lutes, in the cast. That's a lot of people who at least look familiar, let alone who I know reasonably well. It's a good feeling. It's easier to get a sense of belonging, which is usually quite difficult to get when you walk onto a show as a guest star and get in everyone's way for a week. |

The table reading went well. The one scene I have is a good one and shouldn't be cut. My 'girlfriend,' Meredith Autry, is cute and funny so it should be a fun little scene. The only danger is that she has been cast in the show twice before, only to get cut out both times at different stages in the process. I hope her third effort is a charm and not the final chapter in a cutting-room-floor trilogy. J.P.'s two scenes are also good. He is working with Pat 'Mr. Miyagi' Morita, robbing his video store.
It looks to be a very fun week.
