[logo]Day 2 -- Tuesday, March 2

Fun week? Depends on your definition of fun.

I opened up my new script this morning over breakfast looking to see how the re-writes affected my scene. We enter... blah, blah, blah... looks the same... blah, blah, blah... we sit down... Oh God. Oh my goodness.

Billy kisses her and walks off.

Off. Not a new joke. Not some interesting new lines. Oh, something new, yes, a new exit. Billy leaves! For three pages! The disappointment took the usual joy out of my oatmeal and juice.

Sitting around on the set a couple of hours later, the director, Marco, started talking to us about the rewritten scene. He then said to me, "I told the writers we had to be sure we didn't take away your lines after chopping up your part on Conrad Bloom."

I snapped back, "Well, then they must have secretly got together after you left because it's not just my lines that got cut, I got cut! For three pages!"

And then out loud I said, "Yeah.... no... yeah... good, good."

So it was a horrible, disappointing, awful day, right? Well, no, not at all. Maybe I'm finally coming to grips with my ego, but it wasn't such a big deal this time. Knowing so many people on the show helps, because I don't have to think they're judging me based on the size of the role I'm playing (which is absurd, I know, but sadly quite often the case). Instead, it was just fun to be there working and hanging out. J.P. and Meredith are great. It's nice to have Susan around. The regulars have been nice to us. And perhaps it was Marco's comment that made everything seem OK today. If he didn't think my part had suffered, how could I?

Fun week? So far, so good.

Go on to Day 3
