The sides were new-- a two-page scene in which Allen is selling everything from Tony Robbins to self-confidence to Amway to his own line of bullshit. The same collection of people were there for the callback.
I read the scene through once. It went fine. A couple of little chuckles. The "guy-in-charge" whom I imagine is the director and/or writer, gave a little note and I did it again. The last line made them laugh and laugh, but the scene itself was only mediocre. He kept me on coard for one more run through it. This time something must have clicked. During the scene, at one point, he broke a big smile and nodded his head in approval. Then near the end, he jumped in his seat he was so pleased with the evolution of the delivery. When I concluded he said it was perfect, exactly right, and he was so glad that he had me do it a third time. Let's hope it's not just so he can show it to the person they really hire to play the part.
