Audition report--

I'm back. I have now officially completed my first audition in 1992. It was really fun. Let's go to the beginning...

My audition was scheduled for 5:40. I was precisely on time, which, in fact, is not a good thing because I should allow 10 or 15 minutes to look over the sides (audition pieces) before my actual audition time. I was not to pay the price for my "late" arrival today. At 6:05, I still hadn't gone in, and the auditioners decided they needed a dinner break until 6:30. I was being given ample time to look over the sides.

By the time 6:55 rolled around and I went in with Jack to read the scene, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I had successfully memorized nearly all the lines.

The audition itself was great. I read for Mark, the 23-year old bellhop dreamer, first. I did a wide-eyed "green-faced" (I think she called it) young kid. She had us do the scene again (a good sign) and she told me to be more loose with it, more wheeler-dealer, I thought they both went well.

Then, I read for David, which seemed silly to me, since the character is 30-38. But that turned out to be even more fun. There was a third character in the scene, Edward, who was being played by someone involved with the production. He was good and fun to interact with. David & Edward had a bunch of inside jokes going on which were communicated through looks & nods. It was cool.

So, that was it. Jack & I headed on our way. It's good to be back.

Go on to the Callback.
