Audition report--

Although I do not get many non-student auditions, for some reason, "In Arts L.A." decided to give me a look. I got the feeling from the phone call that they weren't being too selective with whom they called in. Just the fact that they called me was indication enough, but also they didn't even ask me to call them back, just to show up at 10 a.m. Then, to top it off, Patty also got called in to audition, and she was supposed to be there at 10 as well. So, now it seemed that half of L.A. was going to be there at 10 a.m. Sunday morning.

I moseyed in at right about 10 and signed in. A room full of possible hosts and hostesses were already patiently awaiting their turns, probably about 20 people total. So I sat down with my trusty Premiere magazine to while away the hours - an hour-and-a-half to be precise.

As the time ticked away, me sitting there in my traditional t-shirt/jacket/jeans outfit, the two women next to me were discussing the situation at hand. "They hardly said anything when they called." I had also experienced this, of course. "They said definitely don't wear jeans, though." Great. One caveat and they didn't even tell me. Oh well, let them imagine me without jeans.

So, finally I enter. I sit. They ask me what I am like. After a few false starts, I finally eke out, "I'm...ah...friendly...and..ah...I smile a lot...and...ah...I try to make people feel comfortable around me...and...ah...I like to meet new people." The pain ended. I had to ask Bruce Willis a question; I asked him about Hudson Hawk and how it would affect his career. They thought that was fine. I also introduced the show with my "debonair" voice (their word, not mine). And that was pretty much it. I didn't really match the look of most of the people there. I think they wanted more "progressive," less "preppie." Oh well.
