So, did I mention Elle MacPherson? Did I mention that her eventual presence made the whole deal seem attractive? Did I mention that she would be in the spot with me, the two of us working side by side? Yeah, well, the the script has changed a bit. Today, the hot babe in the limo was no longer Elle MacPherson. It was the "Cyber Supermodel Cindy Margolis." Judging from her website, she's nothing to sneeze at, but dammit, man, she's no Elle MacPherson.
The callback session was running way behind and I ended up waiting over 45 minutes to go in. Upon entering the room, we found out why. The director was going crazy trying a little improv stuff first, which was fine, but then micro-managing every second of the scene during the reading of it. We would stop and start after every little and he would tweak it and then tweak it some more. We must have said the middle lines of the audition twenty times.
That would beg the question, "Did you finally get it right?" Well, no, I would say there was no time during the process where his eyes lit up and he was struck by the genius he had created. I imagine he would not have held back if we had nailed it at any point. So good-bye Elle macPherson no matter what. And good-bye Cindy Margolis, whoever you are. No need to call ABC and threaten them with my big-time CBS promo. Welcome home indeed.
