2016 Football Pool Frequently Asked Questions

• Why do I need a password?

You will need the password during the season to make your picks.

• How do I make my pick?

You go to the Big Board page and click on the words MAKE PICKS. Then enter your Board Name and password and you will go to the page where the picking is done. Select your team from the drop-down menu and then click the “Submit Picks” button. Your pick is NOT in until you click on the button.

• Do I have to pick every week before the season starts?

No.

• Then why is every week available?

In case you are psychic and want to do it all at once.

• So I don’t NEED to pick weeks in advance?

You only need to make each week's pick an hour before kickoff: 9am Sunday. (Playoff deadline: 12:30pm Saturday)

• When will my pick be posted?

Your pick should show up immediately on the Big Board.

• What if it doesn’t?

Try hitting the “Refresh” or “Reload” button on your web browser.

• What’s a web browser?

It’s the program you surf the web with.

• What’s the web?

This pool may not be for you.

• I tried to log in with the Board Name I submitted but my so-called “web browser” told me “Match not found.” What happened?

A few things might have happened. Your password might be wrong, or you might be typing in your Board Name wrong.

• Uh, no. I’m not.

Keep in mind that I might have changed your Board Name from the one you typed in.

• Why would you do that?

To make everyone’s Board Name similar and give the board a neater look.

• So you’re obsessive compulsive?

Big words.

• Yeah, I don’t know what that is exactly.

Anyway, check the board to see if I have tweaked your name if you have trouble signing in.

• OK, this did NOT happen to me, but what if this friend of mine has forgotten his password?

• When will you get back to me?

My response will probably not be immediate, and the site will NOT create an automatic response. You will just have to wait until I check my email.

• How do I change my contact information on the website?

Cick on the "Update Info" button from the Big Board.

• I sent my check like 10 days ago, but it still says I am unpaid on the website.

Updating who has paid is still a manual process and my twelve-year-old sweat-shop employees in Costa Rica get a little behind sometimes. Check back in the next day or two to see if your payment has been officially received and credited. You can make your picks whether you have paid or not.

• How come my friend Ralph didn’t get an invite to join the pool?

I don’t know Ralph.

• Remember, you met him at my birthday last year.

I didn’t go to your birthday party last year.

• Well, he remembers you.

That’s sweet. What was the question?

• Can Ralph be in the pool?

No, not this year. This year only people who were in the 2014 pool can be in the 2015 pool. I am trying to actually shrink the size of the pool this year.

• Can I make side bets against my friends that I will outlast them?

You can, but given your intelligence, I don’t think that would be wise for you.

• Oh you’re so cool because you know what a web browser is.
