2000 Football Pool Weekly Update

Week Three

"I hate to jump on the bandwagon, but I have to go with Jacksonville." --Oberheu

Jumping on the bandwagon was very popular this week (which is, I guess, what makes it the bandwagon). And the wagons rolled quite easily over their opponents. Jacksonville gave up no points to Cincinnati, and St. Louis (after a slow start) handily put San Francisco away in the second half. That meant a lot of wins and a lot of bandwagons rolling through Week Three.

"Why plan ahead??" --Jenks
"I did watch HBO's Inside the NFL last night." --Egan

It seems those who profess the least amount of strategizing are remaining unscathed. Both Jenks and Egan have no losses. In the meantime, we have seen some damage suffered by all of the previous Ducey Pool Champions. '98 Champ Kessler~C has sustained a loss, as have two of last year's Co-Champs: Sullivan and Cook. As for the third Co-Champ of '99...?

"I have you all right where I want you......fools." --Mollen

Mollen has sustained two losses in only three weeks of play. That's not what we expect of a returning Champ, but in a sport where the ailing Dallas Cowboys can up-end the stacked Washington Redskins, anything can happen.

"I kind of feel like the soldier who got his arms lopped off in Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail: 'Ah, 'tis but a flesh wound...'" --Dresden

The army of Monty Python soldiers grew this week. 28 losses were recorded and I am happy to say that Dresden was NOT one of them. No souls have been lost yet. We are still 131 strong. The standings are so much so like thusly:

00 LOSS -- 62 generals
01 LOSS -- 52 colonels
02 LOSS -- 17 wounded soldiers

Interesting week coming up. The trend already appears to be picking against the AFC Central Division Leaders. It doesn't seem a 2-1 record gets the respect it used to in this league. Regardless of what happens the rest of this season, the Cleveland Browns can boast both a winning record and a share of the division lead after Week Three. After facing Oakland, Baltimore, Arizona, and Denver over the next month, however, they may find themselves with the same number of wins. Or so many Ducey Pool players would hope. Bandwagons are pulling out!!!

Just a couple reminders...
