overall rating / overall share / 18-49 year-olds rating

November 18, 1999

Norm is not so good. I wish that meant more good for us. I'm afraid all it really means is bad for Norm. And that means bad for ABC. And indirectly, that means bad for us. There is a sense of vindication in Norm's weak numbers. They only held onto 70% of the 18-49 audience. The only time we did that badly was up against a big baseball game. Also, Norm didn't even win the half-hour in the demo. They lost to 90210, a supposedly fading show. Leave it to Norm to give those aging kids new life.

Industry interpretation...

November 24, 1999

"Another night, another win for ABC and its Millionaire, whcih earned the net's best Wednesday 8:30-9pm 18-49 rating with regular programming since May 1995. The Nielsen votes failed to materialize for a 20/20 interview with George W Bush, sending the news-mag to its second-lowest Wednesday 18-49 rating this season. UPN's Star Trek: Voyager climbed to its highest 18-49 orbit since February."
