Day 10 -- Tuesday July 1

We were back in the revival tent bright and early today to get all sorts of coverage (close-ups) for the revival activities inside the tent. Tight on Oras & Zack, then Reba, don't forget Ivy, close on the bullies (!), following Oras, reactions from extras, lots of stuff. Then more. Turning the cameras around, we got the preacher at work, then Oras going nuts on stage, then Oras & Zack, and finally, our last bit for the day, the bullies running out after Oras & Zack, followed by Reba.

Tough day. Lots of repetition and no lines for the bullies. And so we stood, each time through the scene, acting goofy or mad or moved by the revival, over and over, many times not even knowing if we were going to be in the shot in the background or not. And, just as at Zack's funeral, Michael Jeter let loose some wacky stuff, most of it pretty funny, and quite an embellishment on the script. And while yesterday we battled unusually high winds, today it was unusually cold temperatures. Standing or sitting under the tent (no sun) was quite brisk, and being sprayed with water to match Friday made it even worse.

Near the end of the day, a number of little girls, and one little boy, were running around getting autographs from everyone. The girls just had sheets of paper ripped from some notebook somewhere and indiscriminantly asked anyone over four feet tall that wasn't required to sit in the cold shade today for his or her autograph. That included the big names, of course, but extended to the bullies and even the crew. Someday, somewhere, some slightly insane autograph collector fascinated by movie make-up is going to pay 30,000 dollars for the Robin Stepp scribbled on a wrinkled piece of paper back when she did the sleeper hit of 1998, Zack and Reba. Hold tight to those pages, girls. Hold tight!

Two items of note:

• The folks arrived in Salt Lake tonight. They were on the West Coast for a wedding in San Francisco and dropped into Vegas for a couple days, then up to see me. They arrived in time today to just miss me leaving the location. So no revival tent for them.
  

• The second thing? Oh, how about a move from the Sun River Apartments to the Residence Inn? At long last, after a conversation between Dominique (set dresser) and her producer/fiancee, Ken, regarding my deal memo, Ken "took care" of the matter. Dan Grodnik, as of this writing Tuesday night, has still not returned the call he was supposed to on FRIDAY!! Pretty rude, if you ask me. (But no one did, did they?)
