Day 5 -- Friday, February 18, 2000

Today's schedule was quite hectic. Apparently they did not get to shoot every scene last night, so they rewrote the last scene so that it could be shot inside the house. That scene then had to be rehearsed and blocked for cameras. Also on the agenda was blocking my third scene for camera, plus reviewing the earlier two which had been blocked last night without me. They were also scheduled to shoot some title cards or some such thing, plus they always shoot a dress rehearsal before the actual taping. Plus they wanted to pre-shoot a couple of scenes for playback. Plus they had to review all of the blocking they did last night. It was a full schedule.

So most of the day I didn't do much -- made phone calls in my dressing room, ran lines, read the paper. I did go to make-up in the early afternoon and we spent about an hour rehearsing and blocking our scenes later in the day. But ultimately the dress-rehearsal had to be scrapped. So that took me right up to dinner and eventually show time.

The show itself went very well. The scenes between GRAHAM and his boss and Zack's character had developed nicely over the course of the week. I held onto a couple of little monologues, plus I had a lot of punchlines. Everything went smoothly throughout the night and the audience responded well. It was a nice end to an emotional week. And so maybe I didn't book a pilot this week, but working on this show and getting such wonderful feedback kept me feeling secure about myself as an actor and how this job can actually be tons of fun when it isn't ripping your heart out.

As my agent said when we found out I didn't get the pilot on Wednesday, "Ducey, you're a star. Don't worry about this one." Well, Movie Stars actually did leave me feeling like a star.
