Day 1 -- Wednesday, August 1
This was more like Day 0. I got in to work at 1pm and sat immediately down to lunch. From there, the day slowed down a bit.
My only "lines" today were coughs. And my only scene today was the last scene of the day. So I spent most of the afternoon sitting in my dressing room alternating between reading and talking on the phone. It was, to be honest, quite a productive day.
At around 6pm, we set about the coughing scene. For the next hour, I stood off-camera and, at the appropriate times, did a little coughing and made a 10-foot cross from left to right. Magic.
At the twilight of the day, they turned the camera around to shoot the doctor's view of sick Will Forte walking by and having a coughing fit. Gino, the props master, approached me with some items. Apparently, Will is a little worse off than I had originally thought. While in the hospital, he has to wheel around an oxygen tank, which is, of course, connected to a plastic nasal tube wrapped around his head and jammed into his nose. Then add a hospital gown to that image and you've got a pretty sad-looking patient.
I coughed and I crossed and I crossed and I coughed. It was a good warm-up day.
