Show report--

Around 7:50 tonight, I hopped into my family-blue Chevrolet Corsica and scurried over the hill to attend the first Wednesday night meeting of 1992 for Theatre Rapport. This departure time puts me at the corner of Wilton and Fountain at about 8:05, which is usually early enough for a Wednesday night meeting.

Imagine my surprise to find Joyce and Hexin on the corner hurrying me across the street and Chris leaning out the back-stage door telling me the show is 10 seconds from starting. The SHOW!

I thought I had reached a point with this company where nothing would surprise me. I was wrong. I went backstage and there was the whole gang ready to start the show. Frank was in the process of changing from his sailor costume to some sort of Mark costume. There was a show planned and nobody had told me. (Meetings had been canceled until further notice, as well, but thank God no one had told me that.)

Apparently, the Wednesday night show was some sort of Industry night, and there was supposed to have been a casting director or two in the audience, which numbered about 10-12.

Luckily, Mark (my character) and I dress alike, so I just scooted on stage and gave the most relaxed performance of Mark to date. Then I drove home, picked up my costumes for the end of the show and returned to finish up. It all went fine.

As far as "industry" goes, there wasn't too much "discovery" going on. After the show, I waited a minute or two and then exited through the theater, in case my big break was waiting for me in the 3rd row. He wasn't. Industry night appears to have been as fruitless as all other nights over there. It has been fun, though, and let's hope the next show has a 20-year-old blond as the lead. We close Saturday, and then it's farewell to Theatre Rapport for a few weeks. That will be nice.

Well, shut my mouth! The "Head of Casting at CBS" is interested in me. I am supposed to call him on Monday. What does this mean? We shall see.

Jack Pinson, at CBS, just wants me to send him a P/R.
