Reading report--

The dramatic voice of Larry Toffler will be heard again! The author of two previously mounted productions, Five Card Stud and Death Benefits, is (hopefully) thinking of writing another Toffler special. What makes it a Toffler special? Judging from his track record, that means crisp, funny well-written dialogue and a juicy role for Larry Toffler. In the past, that has also meant a role for John Ducey. So you see my pleasure in hearing that the Great Toffler is returning to his word-processor.

For tonight, Larry simply gathered a dozen or so friends and we sat around reading what I guess is one of Larry's favorite old plays. The Front Page was written and set in 1928. Much of the language is out-dated, as well as racist, so I don't think we were all there to decide whether or not to put up the show at the Actor's Circle Theater. It was more to get Larry's juices flowing so that he would be inspired to crank out some new material. I hope it worked.
