Day 2 -- Wednesday December 3

Another fun day. We don't really do much when we're there. call time was 9:45am. We did nothing until 10:30am. Then a table-read of the updated script. Then nothing again. We finally started a run-through of the show around 11am. Even so, I did nothing. Rehearsal of our first scene started about 11:45am. We ran it three times. There were no changes so it was all pretty smooth. Then we ran our second scene once. Fine. Then lunch.

Two hours later I returned (on time mind you) and spent about twenty minutes in wardrobe trying on mostly my own clothes to see what worked for Craig. (The show is in danger of being cancelled and the wardrobe budget has been essentially frozen.) Then back to my trailer. At 3:30ish we started a run-through of the show for network so we had a crowd of about thirty watching the show. The first scene went fine, same as always. That's not fantastic, however, because as the week goes on, the writers can get sick of their jokes if they don't think they're working, even if they were, and actually still are, quite funny. So we'll see if there are any revisions of the first scene tomorrow.

Now the second scene had been altered just a tad. As of yesterday, one of my two lines had been dropped leaving only "OK...go." By this morning, that had been re-written as "OK, if you get this one, you win. Go." Oh yeah. Looking good. But could it be better? Before we got to that scene in the run-through, I suggested to Ken (the series regular) that I mumble the line and he drag it out of me that he's about to win. Ken was game to just give it a go during the run-through of the scene. Oh yeah. Looking real good. Or else on the verge of looking like a real idiot, one of the two.

So we did it. The mumble got a laugh right out of the gate. Then the bantering was a nice touch onto the end. Then the door flew open and nailed Ken in the back of the head quite hard. Everyone just froze. He laughed it off but he took a pretty good swack. Once everything settled down, we finished the scene. Now I have to hope that the producers/writers remember the success of the added bit and not just that Ken took a physical beating during the scene. Tomorrow will tell.

Again I must report that everyone was really cool. Ken and Jenica were fun to hang out with and the director, Michael, is very laid-back and cool. So no one has yelled at me for real yet. I was sort of scolded for not signing out at the end of the day but since I was still there I protested that I hadn't left yet and had not intended to do so without signing out. They can't pull one over on this veteran!
