May 1, 1992
It began on February 6th. Victoria Burrows liked my work, hated my headshot. "It's your first agent," she told the 30 eager ears at the One-on-One Showcase. And she directed us to Linda Krikorian.
February 11th I sat speaking with Ms. Linda Krikorian, and as she relayed words of praise from Victoria Burrows' lips, I looked ahead to these new headshots skyrocketing me to the top.
February 25th A fresh haircut and my entire wardrobe escorted me back to Ms. Krikorian's penthouse studio. And there I sat for 3 ½ hours of picture-taking. Of me.
February 27th I receive the message: "John, Linda Krikorian. Well, my dear, the last proof sheet, when I said, 'Let's just have some fun.' Well, of course, this is my favorite page. I have marked one that I think is just killer. I mean, like&ldots;beyond. Beyond beyond. You've never seen yourself look so gorgeous&ldots;there's tons of good stuff, just tons, I mean, you've&ldots;you've got&ldots;you've got it, babe." So no one in the history of Hollywood has ever had headshots as nice as mine.
February 28th Picked 'em up. Wow! 216 of me! It's gonna take me forever to decide.
April 4th It took me forever to decide. But finally, I've zeroed in on a scant 12 to blow-up to 4 x 6 for further consideration. I call Linda and order.
April 12 4 x 6's in hand, I solicit the aid of the Ken Schwarz crowd to pick me a winner.
April 13 I order an 8 x 10 from Linda.
April 17 I pick it up and head to Anderson Graphics for muchos picturos, 190 dollars of muchos.
April 20 I order 64 dollars more muchos as I prepare for the definitive full-scale attack.
April 23 They are ready. The envelopes are bought. Stamps purchased. Names highlighted. Pens ready.
And today, May 1, I lick my last stamp, seal my last envelope, in the mad mailing for Temps. Aside from the few hundred flyers that went out, I sent 301 pieces of promotion to the outside world:

And then wave #2 to the 120 odd casting directors - P/R2, tix, rvws: 117, rvws: 4.
So now I sit tight by the phone, checking my services, waiting anxiously and eagerly for at least one successful connection.
Plus I have the added bonus of being able to return to the Ken
Schwarz firing squad saying proudly: "I did it."
