Interview report--

"I know my way around a chicken."

Who would have thought that all these months in Los Angeles, California would come down to this? But, true enough, after 8 months of the bottom of the barrel in this town, today I walked into a real, honest-to-goodness, legitimate big-time agency, with, and this is the important part, an appointment. No, I wasn't just loitering in the lobby, I wasn't there to tutor someone's child, or work on their electrical system. It was time. I was finally given my shot at the "big time." And what did I have to do to catch the golden ring?

"I know my way around a chicken."

The interview was short and sweet. It had been arranged a week or so ago by Tessa Taylor, a friend from the Ken Schwartz workshop. She and I had lunch together, and then Tessa took me up to meet Samantha and Karen, the two commercial agents at Harry Gold, a very well respected name in Hollywood. So I had been in their presence before, and although both meetings were fleeting, they were pleasant enough.

The majority of my time in their office this afternoon was spent learning my lines. They gave me the audition piece, a Jack-in-the-Box commercial, and gave me a moment to look it over. This moment lasted 5 or 10 minutes as they each looked very busy.

Finally I went. It was fine. Solid. Nothing ground-breaking. But nothing embarrassing. And so I think that gives me a pretty good shot, considering I came by way of reference from one of their successful clients, and I have a look that I have been told is quite commercial. Now, I cross my fingers.
