Day One -- Wednesday, August 10

There's lots of excitement on the set of a new show, a very different feeling than the smooth-running Will & Grace. This is the first new episode of Freddie since the pilot, so everyone is just trying to get their sea-legs as they embark on a great adventure. And while the cast is full of seasoned and well-known actors, I would bet the actor on the set with the most sitcom experience is me. That gives me a quiet comfort for some reason.

The director and cast were fun to work with today. All very nice, everyone on their best behavior. Unlike the sparsely-attended table-reads of Will & Grace, this morning the entire ABC network turned out to hear about the trials of Freddie and the four women in his life. It brought back memories of Oh Grow Up, when the network still cared. Sitcoms are in trouble, but ABC is on an upswing. If they can add a new hit sitcom to their growing list of hot shows, they would be thrilled. Will it be Freddie? I'll certainly do my part.
