Table read. 12 noon. But not the fist time I saw this collection of people. That first time was last night when I attended the first couple of hours of the taping of last week's show. Funny. Very encouraging.
So, today? Everyone was very nice. I met Ever and Lauren and Mark, the three main young characters on the show. I did not meet Linda Lavin or Steve Landesberg, the two television icons on the show. Gilda and Katherine and Mark were there from the casting office. Marco, the executive producer said hello. And even Stacey B Davis, from the old Five Card Stud days, was there offering a friendly face. So it was a good collection of people.
The script was funny, too. Lots of good jokes. Linda Lavin, in fact, was so moved by the script that as we reached the final two pages, she started to cry. She couldn't even go on. She had to stop and let someone else read. She remarked, "This is the funniest script I have seen in a long time." And after nine years of Alice scripts, I guess she has some idea what she's talking about.
So it all looks promising for the coming week. My part is not that large, but it is a cute scene. And at least I'm talked about during the show which makes it harder to cut me out. And so we're on to tomorrow, bright and early.
