Day 4 -- Thursday, February 10, 2000
The Hawk returns.
We had one more sequence to shoot with The Hawk before he flew off into the night. This was the ATM stake-out scene where the guys are all sitting in the car learning more about The Hawk's history. Then the bad guy shows up and the officers and Hawk take him down.
And when I say 'take him down,' I mean take him down to the ground with a flying tackle. The centerpiece to today's shoot was the The Hawk flying in from behind the officers to literally tackle the ATM Bandit. We had a stunt-man on the set and fall pads on the ground and we did about five different tackles. The rehearsal tackle was probably the best (figures) because as I made contact and sent him to the ground, seven or eight loose feathers were shaken from my costume and exploded all around us. Even I was taken aback at how funny it all seemed.
After each take the response was fabulous from the crew gathered
around. I needed to keep reminding myself, however, that they were
all laughing with me, not at me. I shook that whole
"just the suit is funny" thing last time I was on this
show, right? And everyone who had been nice before was very nice
again, even more so. It was another fun night on the set of Battery
Park.
