Woah. Tough crowd.
I read today for the final available role on an ABC show airing this fall. It is the last chance for my deal to expand into actual work before the fall season starts. If I don't get this, I sit tight until next pilot season in February.
The audition went fine. Fine, that is, if I was doing it in a vacuum. I thought everything was going pretty well, except for one little thing. No one was laughing. The two gentlemen I was trying to impress are the producing team of Miller/Boyett, the driving force behind a slew of previous cute kids' shows, including, if I'm not mistaken, the original Olsen Twins vessel, Full House. So they have Olsen magic on their side. What they did not appear to be having was a very good time watching me audition. It was not until the very end of the scene that they began to emit a chuckle or two and then it all ended with an actual laugh. One laugh. One laugh in a two minute sitcom scene. Hmmmm... Not what they encourage at Sitcom Community College.
And I now have a new least favorite thing for someone to do during my audition. The person who was reading opposite me in the scene was mouthing all of my lines as I was saying them. Remarkably disconcerting. And it was impossible not to watch because I'm trying to make eye contact with this person and find some sort of connection and all I can see are lips moving to the sounds that I'm making. Yow.
The end of this story is that my agent called a little while ago and I am going back in tomorrow to read for what will basically be a studio test. The network test would be Wednesday (two days from now) if I go on to that phase. So it should all be decided in the next 48 hours. Look out, Olsen Twins, here comes Ducey.
Go on to the Studio Test.
