Audition report--

This one seems like one I actually have a good shot at. THe role is the put-upon, over-enthusiastic, under-experienced office manager at a sales office, where window blinds are the main product (hence, Blind Men). Working against me is that he should probably be a little more of a schlub. Starting to bald prematurely, a little overweight, not quite put together. On the other hand, working for me is the fact that the writer and executive producer, John Markus, had the same titles on LateLine, which premiered two days ago on NBC.

Mr. Markus was in the room, along with Allison and myself. We chatted for a bit about the premiere and the ratings and the feedback. We also talked about my episode and he had some very kind words, saying I had done a funny, professional job and that even though the show was running way too long, they did not cut any of my lines. My second little scene, in fact, is right before the commercial break. Cool.

And did I mention that I also read a scene while there? That went fine. And when I say fine, I mean it didn't feel all that great. Maybe I wasn't familiar enough with the lines or with the flow of the scene. I don't know. Something was a little off, I think. Maybe I was trying too many different things with the character, or I just didn't have a firm enough grasp on what I really wanted to do with the character. I'm not sure. I sure would like a callback of some sort to give it another go. Unfortunately, since I read for the writer/producer, the next step is probably Studio/Network, a mighty big step for someone who just wants to get another shot at it. Gotta hope that if they think I am physically right for the part that they will give me the benefit of the doubt since I have worked for them successfully in the past. C'mon. What d'ya say?
