It was my first time meeting Dava Waite and the scene was actually quite a funny one and the part is pretty well suited to me. I'm a tad too clean-cut but that can be overlooked.
We launched into the scene and Dava had it memorized for the most part. She dropped a line near the end and was immediately apologetic once we were done. "I'm sorry. Oh, I feel bad. It's just that you were making it so funny and it was so fun to watch you that I just forgot about the line. It was such pleasure."
Her next question to me was, "Where have you been?" After I laughed, she repeated it, "No, really, where have you been?"
"I've been around, just waiting for you to discover me."
"Well, I'm sure you have. That was really good."
"And I just signed with Pakula/King and they've been getting me out meeting new people. Like you."
And she searched for my picture and we chatted a bit about the more interesting items on my resume. And she expressed her sincere excitement in having met me all the while gazing up at me like I was her long, lost brother having returned to her life after 20 years. It was cool and flattering. Does it mean I will get this job? I think we all know I could still not even get a callback. But it still feels good to near nice things now and then.
