Back to the Paramount lot at 5:15pm. Five or six guys in suits and ties, looking very agent-like. One in particular, Sam Pancake, a gentleman I have met before, is just about the perfect type for the role. He will be the one to beat.
I am the last to go and as I emerge, Cathy says to hold on for a second. (They told everyone to hold on for a second, and then a second later, they told everyone to go.) A second later, she told me to go. "That's a no?" I questioned. "Well, it's not yes or no, but you did really well, so you should feel good about it." Yes, that's nice of her to say but it means feel good about this moment because it's end of the line for you and this character. I do look forward to someday getting back in to read for more Frasier. And I sure do wish there were a few other offices in town where I could go in and read for the juicy stuff and get the kind of attention Jeff Greenberg was willing to give my reading. Someday...?
