Audition report--

Cathy Reinking works in jeff Greenberg's office and is a good friend of mine, so when she picked up this twenty-something angst-ridden project, she thought of me for one of the lead roles. That sounds fantastic, no?

Well, no. Not necessarily fantastic. There is no money involved with the project. The official status is SAG-deferred, which means if it goes on to make money, I will get paid then, which really means I will never get paid. So the decision has to be whether or not to work on a movie that will take up all day every day for two solid weeks. On the surface, it may seem like a silly question. I keep my days free for a reason, so that I can do whatever I need to. But beneath that is the likelihood that I would compromise my tutoring availablity and on a personal note, I am mid-crisis with Kama Lee, my favorite single mom in all of Northern California, and am questioning the whole kit and caboodle. If she and I are still together, that would most likely mean two weekends, including Halloween, that I couldn't see her and Calvin. She wouldn't be too psyched about that. Anyway, that is fodder for a different journal.

The audition went well. The second scene was quite long with lots of speeches for Pike but I think I glided through them smoothly. The director/writer/producer/however many hats he's wearing seemed to be pleased with my reading and Cathy was cool with it. It could be a fun adventure to take on as an "investment" in my career.
