I guess Jeff Greenberg is a good person to have on my side. Without him, I wouldn't be auditioning at all. But luckily, he is in the business and I read today for a possible new sitcom about a single, working mother who has to juggle all of her new-found responsibilities while not neglecting all her old ones.
Russell is described as mid-20s, low man on the very small office totem pole. A job we can assume he won't be at for very long. Russell's attitude is insolent; he's not at all interested in making any kind of great impression at the office. For now he'll do what he has to in order to get by.
The scene was pretty short. Russell had one little phone monologue and then a few lines sprinkled throughout the rest. I tried to make him insolent to the edge of "bitchy." I imagine they don't want him to appear gay, so I hope I didn't go too far. Jeff and Sheila were both in the room and did a good job of laughing when I thought I was being funny. It felt pretty good for what it was.
