Part I. Read the script. Fairly short, simple, love triangle stuff. Not a very clear resolution, in fact, no resolution, which I guess was the point, but it never went anywhere, the guy just kept switching girls. Anyway, that's that.
Part II. A cold reading. The director had written up a scene for the film: if it had dialogue, this is what it would be. So, fine. I read it over once and jumped in. As usual, I made my character very calm, very in control, eyeing the other woman very confidently. It went fine. But, the director wanted a more nervous guy, less sure of himself. That, of course, is no problem. So I did it, and received a "Wow! That was an amazing switch."
Part III. A prepared monologue. I went with old faithful - the Player from Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. I probably need to expand my repertoire. The monologue wasn't so hot. I pretty much sped through it, and left out most of the "blocking" throwing in simple hand gestures where they felt good. The director said it was good, but I guess it would be rude of her to say otherwise. I don't think shooting dates have ever been discussed, which is probably not a good sign. They seemed nice. The part involves a tear rolling down the guy's cheek twice. Get those drops out. Enough randomness.
