The day did not begin very well. I'm staying at Patty's these days, and it's tough to find a parking space close by at night. So I decided to park in the nearby Staples parking lot since I would be up early today. Bad idea.
I strolled outside at about 8:45 this morning for a nice, leisurely drive into the Valley only to discover that my car was no longer in the immediate vicinity. I entered Staples and inquired. No problem. My car could be picked up at HANK'S. It had been towed. Not a fun way to start the day, nor an inexpensive one. It cost me 78 buckaroonis to get my car. Why me?
Patty took me to get me car, and surprisingly I made it to the audition by 9:40, only 10 minutes late.
I read the scene which I had picked up the night before, he gave some direction, and I did it again. It went fine. Then, he gave me a short monologue and time to look it over.
I returned and delivered the monologue to the A.D. and again, he gave some direction and I did it again. I had it pretty well memorized, so, I refused to look down at the script even when I completely blanked. I just "used the pause" as some sort of dramatic moment and the words came to me.
I finished and head-honcho said that they had a lot of people to see today, but they'd probably be having callbacks soon and that they would probably be in touch with me. Now, either they're cruel and say that to everyone, or the audition really did go well. I hope it's the latter.
