Audition report--

Sitcom audition, yes. Story of a couple having a baby out of wedlock, yes. Eleven pages of material, yes. Audition for a casting office I am very comfortable with, yes. All of these things play in my favor.

The downside? Heavy scenes. A good portion of the comedy comes out of the situation, not necessarily the lines. It's hard to convey a delivery room with my facial expressions, for example. I played the scenes straight and earnest, thinking this is what makes them funny and interesting. I hope that's what they were looking for.

But the real downside might be that I am completely wrong for the character as it is written. My feel for the character as I was reading the script was for more of a simple guy. Simple good looks, simple behavior, simple attitude. Yes, I'm an actor, but on a sitcom I think you really have to BE the character. I may not be this character. Still I think I had a great audition.
