Short scene, not a lot of jokes for TJ in it. As I am sitting outside the office waiting to audition, I hear a gentleman on the phone from inside the office say, "We got our TJ today. Yeah, he just came in here and nailed it, blew the walls of the place." Needless to say, they were not talking about me, because I had not read yet. Still I sat and looked at my lines and suppressed the instinct to walk out of there, knowing that pride is sometimes helpful but oftentimes a hindrance to a career in show business.
The reading went well. The end of the story is that the asked me to test for the part. Despite their insistence on having the guy, they still had to bring other guys to the executives. That was where I came in. Or didn't come in. They ended up not offering enough money for the job and we turned it down. Dangerous move? Perhaps. You never know how things might have gone if I had pursued that course. It could be the next great sitcom. It could be nothing. But I need to keep looking ahead to the next one. This one is all done.
