My agents told me today on the way home from this audition that I am more playboy than father. This was not an indictment of my fathering skills nor a plea to take Emma away from me, this was their assessment of me as an actor, as a body walking into the audition room, as a natural personality. More playboy, less father.
It's tricky, then, that this pilot season has been fraught with young father roles. Here I thought that would be right up my alley, but I guess I don't perceive myself the same way the casting directors and writers of the world perceive me.
At least with today's young father audition, the guy is a bad
father, so maybe I have a chance. I only got to read one of the two
scenes because of time constraints, but I thought it went well.
