Callback report--

This is the kind of thing that makes somebody quit the business. I auditioned for this role a month ago and then it went away for a little while, but as pilot season drags on (and all of the good people get jobs), the options become slimmer. Basically, the cream rises to the top. Then they skim the cream off the top and some of the crappy parts of milk gets a chance to visit the top as well.

I got the impression they were excited to have me come back in today. That got me a little excited about my possibilities. I have been on hold for the Nicole Sullivan Project for so long that I am beginning to have serious doubts about getting the role. I really need to get something and this could just be the project.

However excited they were to see me, you couldn't tell that by the attitude in the room. The casting director, Rick, and the writer, Jay, were their usual friendly selves. Sitting in between them on the couch, however, was the embodiment of unpleasantness. Slumped into the pillows, executive producer Gavin Polone watched me audition as if he were a five year-old forced to sit through a sermon in church. No reaction, no interest, no hint if being "excited to have me come back in today." I'm not sure how he believes he can help the creative process by imitating a drugged sloth five feet away from me, but he gave it his best shot.

The feedback from my audition was that "Gavin didn't respond to me."

No shit.
