9am audition. That is not a phrase you want to hear. It's a pain to get cranked up that early. It's much nicer to have a morning, or at least a couple morning hours, to relax and work on the scene before going to audition. A 9am audition means being completely prepared the night before, remembering everything you did before going to bed, and then trying to sleep as late as physically possible and then running around trying desperately to get there on time. Plus, being funny at 9am is nearly impossible.
The last time I auditioned for this show, I read for both DAVE and MAX. It was decided that I would come back and read for the executive producer as Dave. In the meantime, Dave has been written out of the show. That leaves only Max for me.
My reading as Max was good, though not fabulous. The audition scene is tiny, and there are probably three Max jokes. I felt like I hit two of them. So, depending on how you look at it, I only missed one of the jokes, or I missed 1/3 of all the jokes. Still, it was solid enough.
Word on the street is that they are deciding whether to go
"attractive" or "character" for the role of Max.
Dave was going to be the attractive one, but with his absence from
the script, the crucial Max decision must be made.
