Audition report--

This was a sad ending to a loooong day. I had three auditions today. At the first I waited 45 minutes to audition. At the second, 50 minutes. And at this last one, I stood in the cold of the evening for a full hour as my nose dripped, my head began to pound, my lungs started filling up, and I just wanted to be home in bed. I was at the peak of the head-and-chest-cold that had been coming on for a couple of days, and all of the running around town, and WAITING around town had taken most everything out of me. And still I waited.

When I got into the room, I was told that we weren't going to do all of the audition material, and the part we were skipping over was some of the better stuff. Of course. Then I started reading with someone who rushed through their lines, the lines from two different characters, a nuance which they were not prepared to establish. I sat there spitting my lines out in rapid fire with the reader, just trying to find the right place to say them, since there was no actual scene going on. And slowly the vision of my warm apartment and its cozy bed began to form in my mind. I left that audition long before it was over. I went to a place that was warm and quiet and peaceful and no one made me wait in a hallway and my nose never ran.

If you don't want me there, then let me just go home.
