Busy day. I went straight from my Say Uncle audition, which was two scenes and eleven pages of material, to this callback, for which I had a full five scenes over twenty pages. Lots to learn. Lots to do. I think it hurt the Say Uncle audition because it was hard to focus. But now that one was behind me and I had auditioned a couple of these scenes before, so I was in a much better mental state when I reached Disney.
Turns out they did see me as this guy. Almost. The executive producer sat me down before my callback and said that I am right for the role except I'm a little too smart. It's hard to believe this guy would make these mistakes in the pilot if he were this smart. Or more accurately, the smarter he is, the more calculated the bad behavior seems, and consequently, the more reprehensible it is. So dumb it down a bit? I could do that.
We read through the three scenes that would be used for the studio
and network tests. I tried to incorporate a little more of a simple,
honest quality. They went very well, funny, interesting. I think they
like me a lot.
