Audition report--

It was a year ago that we were rehearsing what would be the very last Oh Grow Up ever. Most of the people involved with the show went on to other projects. Stephen is on DAG. David's show, Three Sisters, is a mid-season replacement. Rena can't stop making movies. And me? Well, I'm sure proud of all of them.

I'm also proud of Alan Ball, the creator and executive producer, who has found a nice home at HBO with a new hour-long drama. Today, I was hoping he would invite me into that home.

I read for GARY, the guidance counselor at the high school on the show. The role is only a couple of scenes, but depending on the prominence of the high school in the show, the role could be recurring. Perfect. I would love to be back working with Alan and I would love to have a little ongoing gig.

The audition went very well, I thought. I did only the first scene. The second one was only one line. I went slowly and patiently. i thought this had to be delivered gracefully, not with the headlong rush that sometimes overtakes my auditions. And it worked. They seemed to really like it. I felt great walking out of there.

I thought I did everything I needed to do to prove Alan was right in wanting to hire me. That was, I assume, my goal. I would like to think Alan would almost just give me the part, but for having to please the director. In the room were Alan, Christian, the director, and two others. If I even slightly won over the others, I think this part should be all mine.
