The pilots are trickling in these days, earlier than usual because of the expected writers' and actors' strikes in the spring of 2001. That's fine with me. I would prefer to know sooner rather than later if there's a series in my future for next season.
Today's was a good one. The role is a 26 year-old third son of an Irish family headed by Brian Denehey. I finally won't be too young for a role. God forbid I'm too old this time, but it would nice to finally hear it for a change. The character is a lot like Ford from Oh Grow Up -- uptight, a little stuffy, unsure of himself -- so I know I'm a good fit.
And my reading today went well. I got some direction after I did the second scene. I did the scene over again and it was much better. So I showed I could take direction and use it to improve the scene. Success.
Go on to the Callback.
