I awoke this morning at 10:30, put on my shirt and tie to look like the professional that TOM is, and left for my 4:30 audition. That left me time for the cab ride to the Vancouver airport and the flight back to America and the drive down to Manhattan Beach. When the plane landed about 20 minutes late, I had to hurry a little bit, but it worked out to be just about perfect timing. Good sign? I thought so.
I really had a good feeling about this one. Laura, the casting director, is a friend of mine. The role is perfect for me. And even though it's an hour-long drama, not traditionally my strong suit, the David Kelley skew of the show gives me back some edge.
The scene went well, too. We did it twice with a little change the second time. The biggest help was that I used the table in front of me as a desk the second time through. It changed my posture and my demeanor, making me look like an acting genius, when all I was really doing was looking for some place to rest my arms.
So this could break the streak. C'mon Boston Public.
(Feedback: "Loved your reading. It was down to you and one other
guy and he has worked with the director before.")
