Audition report--

I had a sense, walking into the waiting room for the audition, that this was it. This would be my one chance to be on Friends. It just seems to be that kind of show that you read for once and either you get the job and you're on the show, or you don't get the job and you never get another chance. Surely they can find enough people in L.A. who want to be on the show that they don't need to keep bringing the same people in over and over. Either they nailed it or they blew it.

So, pressure? Well, not so much. Friends is a big show, there is no denying that, and many people would see my performance on the show, friends and show biz people alike. But while two or three years ago it would have felt like a career-making opportunity, I am in a slightly different place these days. A week working on Friends would simply be a fantastic, fun week on a polished set with very talented and successful people. Don't get me wrong, I would absolutely love to do that, but the down side is not as frightening. Missing my one opportunity to be on Friends will not kill my career.

That said, I think I did a great job. I hit the jokes the way I wanted to, I delivered the serious lines well, and I think they liked what I did. They didn't appear to be blown away my by my performance, though, and I think the person that gets the job on this show has to blow them away a little. And I think age is going to present a problem yet again. 2000 has been the year of "too young." Playing Pheobe's boyfriend and going through a divorce require a certain maturity that I doubt they will see in me.
