I had a pretty good shot at this one, I thought. I tested to be a regular on the show this past pilot season when it was called People Who Fear People. Today's guest-star role was much more up my alley than the regular role on the show. And with all of the friendly faces (plus the pity vote that I tested and didn't get cast) I felt very good walking into the room.
Not so much walking out of the room.
It went fine, even well for the first half of the audition. Then during the second of the two scenes, I lost a little bit of the punch. As I was walking away 8 minutes later, it struck me how I should have played the second scene to make it an interesting scene. But that was 8 minutes too late. Auditioning is so much about the choices you make for the character and how you just hope and pray they match the producer's ideas for the role. I don't think I nailed it today. It was good, but since it wasn't quite right, I don't think it's going to be good enough.
(Feedback: "It was me vs. the more macho guy. I was funnier.
They wanted macho.")
