There was a time when this one would have been right up my alley. BRYCE is the naive, innocent newbie trying to help the aliens collect information. It's Close Encounters of a Shelby Kind. And yet, the way my strengths have evolved, my stock character, while not quite worldly, is much more cynical.
Still, today, I conjured up a bit of the old magic and did what I thought was a pretty good sweetie. Not so much. There were eight of us there. Two were held to read one more scene. So I didn't even make it in the top two. They were very striking gentlemen, though, and attractiveness was tantamount for the role. I think that helped seal the deal.
I'm not done, though. This audition came on the heels of booking the
two-line role in the produciton company's pilot, Don't
Ask. It would be nice to have another set of big-time producers
know that I'm around out here. Today seemed to indicate that somebody does.
