The Big Ugly. That was the last time Steven Weber and I sat in the same room. That was on Wings a long time ago.
Today I was reading with Gilda Stratton, a friend in the casting world, in front of Steven Weber and two other producers on the show. The role is Steven's old buddy who has been living with him "temporarily" for the last five months. So he's a bit lazy. Oh yeah, he's also a doctor. So he's a bit driven. Try to cast that. I prepared what I thought might balance the two worlds. Unfortunately they only let me read the first scene, which is more of the slacker side. Not my strong side. They laughed at a couple of the more unique things I did, but it didn't feel like I was throwing off sparks in there.
I finished the first scene and no one gave me any indication that
brilliance had just occured before them. One of the gentlemen jumped
in quickly with a 'thank you' and a 'good job.' On my way.
