Audition report--

Busy day today. Three auditions, including a return to a project I originally read for weeks ago. But first up, Yes Dear.

What can I say? It's the lead role, which is good. It's four main characters, which is good. It's a sitcom, which is good. Lots of good. But nothing great. The script is like many that seem to be floasting around this pilot season. There's nothing inherently wrong with any of them because they don't really try to accomplish anything all that groundbreaking. In this case, there are two couples, each with a toddler. One set of parents is overly controlling, the other is overly lax. Comedy ensues. Instead of taking the baby to the park, GREG takes the baby to a casino. It smacks of Lucy taking Little Ricky down to the club or Fred stopping off at the bowling alley with Pebbles and Bam Bam.

Don't get me wrong. It's funny enough. But really just enough. And I think that's about what I brought to it today. I enjoyed playing some of the bits but I didn't really nail anything. They seemed to like me and I read both audition scenes, but I'm not sure there's a perfect fit here between GREG and me.
