The last time I went in for this project I read only for the casting director and she decided that I was not right for the part. Since then, they have taken a few possible GORDONS to the network and no one has fit the bill. So today I went back and read for the writer to see if I could make it into Round Two of network testing.
This time my audition went fabulously. I really felt like my timing was on and the scene made sense and I was in complete control of everything. When I finished, there was an appreciative silence in the room and the writer was giving me a very interesting look. It was a combination of surprise, appreciation, and disappointment. My interpretation of the look was that she really liked what I did with the part but that I truly just wasn't right for it and so she wouldn't be bringing me on to test. Surprise that I was good, appreciation that I gave 100% to it, and disappointment that it just won't work.
