The DeMarco Brothers is a curious hybrid of shows. It takes the Everybody Loves Raymond family formula and tries to spice it up with some younger faces. So replace Raymond's wife with a hottie across the hall, Raymond's brother with a slick, good-looking ladies man, and Raymond with me. The quirky parents are still there, plus a younger live-at-home brother. Is that a formula for success? Maybe it's exactly what CBS is looking for.
There were 16 pages of sides to prepare, which is a hefty amount, and I was ready to go on almost all of it. There were no major speeches and I had a pretty good idea what I wanted to do with everything. As expected, there was a sign posted warning that we would only read #2 of the three scenes. Fine. #2 was my favorite.
I read the five or six pages with Lisa and it all went pretty well.
As will happen, they then asked if I was able to do #1 as well. We
did. #1 didn't come off quite as smoothly, but I think I held my own.
It's a part I could basically play with my eyes closed (though that
probably wouldn't be very funny after a while) -- lawyer, mid-20s, a
little insecure, a little worn-out, but successful and organized. I
got your Jack right here.
