Hal is a sweet, innocent young man who wishes he was anything but. He looks like an angel, acts like an angel, but really wants to run a brothel. The play, "Loot," is about Hal's problems after he steals a bunch of loot from a bank.
The audition was six pages of what seemed to me to be a pretty unfunny scene, which wouldn't be a problem, except for the fact that this is supposed to be a comedy. I gave the whole adventure a little short shrift because I spent most of the hours leading up to the audition working on my Shakespeare monologue for The Tempest. So I went in and basically read the scene aloud, moved around a bit on stage, and thanked them for their time.
On the way out, Brian, the director, told me to tell Mitchell (my manager) he says hi. I guess that means he won't be talking to my manager himself any time soon to set up a callback for me.
